Sony since its beginning has kept its focus on designing phones for all categories of people ranging from smartphones below 100 $ to smartphones above 450 $ and its recent addition to the mid ranger category was the Xperia M2 which has now been followed by its successor M2 aqua released on 19th of August. The M2 aqua is a water proof phone at a price which was never heard of before this for the water proof devices.
Sony has started making water and dust proofing a symbol for Xperia devices and the Xperia M2 aqua comes with the highest dust and water resistance IP rating for a smartphone that is IP68. This means that the phone can reside for thirty minutes and up to 1.5 meters in water.
Keeping the water and dust proofing features aside, the M2 aqua has more or less the same features as the simple M2. It has a 4.8 inch qHD screen with a pixel density of 229 pixels. The processor is a quad core 1.2 GHz with Adreno chipset and 1GB RAM on board offering the best-in-class processor performance. It is also an ultra-fast LTE device. The phone also comes with the world’s highest smartphone battery capacity in its category with a long lasting battery of 2300mAH and STAMINA mode.
It will come with the 4.4.2 KitKat version and an 8MP camera with Exmor RS sensor with HDR mode.
While the original M2 came at a price of 180 euros, the only pricing information available for M2 aqua is that it will be a midrange phone.
