UNSC mulls new sanctions on North Korea


NEW YORK: The United States and Russia have reached an agreement on a nationwide cease-fire in Syria, starting from Monday.An announcement to this effect was made after a daylong marathon talks between US Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov in Geneva.Under the plan, the Syrian government will end combat missions in specified areas held by the opposition.The United States and Russia will carry out joint air strikes against militant groups in these areas if Syrian government and opposition groups abide by the truce for a week.
